Maximum input voltage from PVs

My installer is telling me that it is okay to have fourteen 400Wp Longi panels on one string on my 8kW Sunsynk inverter. It seems to me that the open circuit voltage of the panels (14 x 36.8V) will exceed the rated input voltage of the inverter (500V PV input, 425V MPPT input) if the panels are not being loaded for whatever reason (e.g. batteries are full and it is configured not to export).

Can anyone please clarify why this would be okay? It seems to me that the panels will normally be loaded but that the possibility certainly exists that they will not be loaded under some plausible circumstances.

Thanks for pointing that out. In this case, I'm getting the figure from the label on the inverter (which, amazingly, has most of the specification in it!)
