Adding new batteries to an old system

Here is a question which I hope I don't have to address for a while (having just bought my Sunsynk 8kW inverter with 2x SUN-BAT-5.32 batteries).

When my batteries have degraded by a noticable amount (say in 5 to 7 years) can I add new batteries to the chain and run them in parallel? Can the Inverter/BMS handle a mix of batteries like that? I am assuming that the new batteries would be the same brand and type.

That is encouraging. I suppose that "under the hood" the processor in each battery enclosure must somehow look after the interests of its own battery. Otherwise identical batteries of different ages would not be able to play together. I suppose a lot goes on between what we see as the "battery terminals" and the cells inside the box.
