Oversizing with spare panels

Hi. I have an aged 3.6kw solar inverter system feeding into a Sunsynk inverter with x2 5kw Sunsynk batteries but want to oversize my home solar panel with a spare 300w moveable panel from my motorhome.

Is there any way to simply plug this spare panel into the Sunsynk inverter to suplement the batteries on cloudy winter days? The panel is just sat there doing nothing when its potential <0kw could be used indoors....

I may also be adding a small (400w) wind turbine later if connecting additional hardware is easy to do.

Many thanks.

Hi Owen. Would it be as simple as plugging in the two PV solar connectors from the spare 300w solar panel to the underside of the unit as seen in the photo above?

The solar panel has no MPPT & purchased so as to fit into an existing system, either in a house or RV.

If that is the case I could run a perminant cable to an accesable location ready to swap out as & when not in use.

Modulating battery charge

I've had an 8kW Sunsynk setup for just over a year now, with an iboost for hot water and two 4.8kW batteries. It's powered by 18 panels on the south and west roofs, and I have seen a peak of just over 7kW. I'm extremely happy. It's a very well thought out system. Congratulations on a great inverter and controllers. However, once I have charged both batteries and warmed up 200L of water, the system sends power back to my supplier (Octopus) on good sunny days. We then run out of power overnight when actually, with a third battery, we could run the entire 24h no problem. The logic at present is to charge batteries and when full, heat water. Is there a way my installer could fit a third battery that only gets charged after the water has been heated so that we ensure we get enough water first?

Surely if you get a third battery you could top up the hot water heat from the battery? it would still be solar power just time shifted.

Replacing SMA Equipment

I am off grid and have a single phase installation consisting:

Proven 6kW Windturbine 2 strings of Solar Panels - 4kWp in total

20kWh of led actd traction batteries

16.5 kva Diesel generator

Those power sources

6kW SMA Windy Boy, after a SMA inverter and protection box to limit the DC output to 600v

UK SEG Tariffs

I have recently had a Sunsynk installation with battery and wondering which SEG provider to go with.

Is the Battery compatible with Intelligent Octopus Flux as it is not listed?

Open to suggestions. I am currently with Eon Next on a standard fixed tariff due to expire mid September for reference
