Wait, how do Hybrid Inverters Actually work?
Has anyone else ever wondered this? I feel slightly daft asking. I have no idea how Hybrid Inverters actually work. I do not mean "they need a CT coil" or "they match the frequency". How do they actually convince the power not to come in from the grid? Is it something to do with the internal resistance of the batteries vs the grid or setting the voltage of the inverter slightly higher?

It is quite complex and involved when you dig deep down.
I studied electronics and power systems 40yrs ago when we only worried about sync, and power flow in one direction so tried to reason how these solar inverter /CT systems/ and bi directional smart meters actually work ...and I could not figure it all out.
This was instigated having recently seen a UK YouTube video of a guy complaining his inverted and battery system was playing up because the DNO grid supply voltage was 267vac which led me to wonder if they push back with current, or a higher voltage, in phase, out of phase and how the whole CT arrangement works to determine true power and apparent power. When you put it into perspective of say a housing estate with 300 houses all with different inverters and batteries EV's etc working in different ways how does the grid handle the harmonics and phase shifting is beyond me.
Maybe someone here has the technical expertise to simplify the answer.
