Modern Slavery Statement
Latest update: 24 June 2025
Sunsynk is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. This statement sets out the steps we have taken to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in our business or supply chain.
1. Introduction
This Modern Slavery Statement is made pursuant to applicable modern slavery legislation and sets out the steps that Sunsynk (Pty) Ltd and its subsidiaries have taken, and continue to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chain.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our supply chain.
2. Our Business
Sunsynk is a global leader in solar inverter technology, designing and manufacturing solar energy solutions for residential and commercial applications. Our products are sold in over 50 countries through a network of authorised distributors and installers.
Our supply chain includes manufacturers of electronic components, battery cells, enclosures, and packaging materials, primarily located in Asia, Europe, and Africa. We recognise that certain parts of our supply chain may be at higher risk of modern slavery and we focus our due diligence efforts on these areas.
We maintain a comprehensive supplier register and conduct regular reviews of our supply chain to identify and mitigate potential risks related to modern slavery.
3. Our Approach to Governance
Sunsynk's commitment to responsible business practices is underpinned by a framework of internal policies and procedures that are being designed to promote ethical conduct, sustainability, and social responsibility.
These frameworks address areas such as ethical sourcing, supplier relationships, environmental protection, and the prevention of bribery and corruption. Together, they will guide our approach to identifying, managing, and mitigating the risks of modern slavery and human rights abuses in our operations and supply chains.
Our Board and senior management have resolved to review these frameworks periodically to ensure they remain relevant and aligned with our corporate values and evolving global standards.
4. Supply Chain Due Diligence
Sunsynk sources products and components through a network of international partners and recognises that certain regions and sectors carry a higher risk of labour-related abuses.
To help mitigate these risks, we:
- Carry out due diligence on new suppliers to assess their ethical and operational practices.
- Seek to engage with partners who share our commitment to responsible business conduct.
- Request information from key suppliers about their policies, audit practices, and workforce management.
- Follow up on identified risks through dialogue and, where necessary, additional review or assessment.
Where serious concerns are identified, we will work collaboratively to resolve them or, if required, reconsider the relationship.
5. Risk Assessment
We assess potential risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our supply chain by considering factors such as:
- Geographic risk (based on country labour standards and governance).
- Sector or industry exposure to known risks (e.g., electronics, mining, manufacturing).
- Labour recruitment and employment practices.
We continue to monitor these areas and will strengthen our approach as our systems for supplier engagement and evaluation evolve.
6. Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks within our organisation and supply chain through the establishment of targeted training and awareness programs designed to ensure that:
- Employees involved in procurement, compliance, and supply chain management receive relevant training.
- Awareness materials are made available to help staff recognise and report concerns.
- Our business partners are encouraged to promote similar awareness initiatives within their own operations.
7. Reporting and Whistleblowing
Sunsynk promotes an open culture that encourages reporting of unethical or unlawful practices. Concerns, including those relating to potential modern slavery or human trafficking, can be raised confidentially through our internal reporting channels. Reports are investigated and handled appropriately, with protection against retaliation for those who speak up in good faith.
8. Measuring Our Progress
We recognise that addressing modern slavery risks is an ongoing process. Sunsynk will continue to develop and refine its approach through:
- Reviewing and strengthening supplier engagement processes.
- Building greater transparency across our supply chain.
- Tracking employee training participation.
- Monitoring outcomes from due diligence and risk assessments.
9. Commitment
Sunsynk is committed to continuous improvement in identifying and addressing the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking across all aspects of our operations.
This statement has been approved by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Sunsynk Group Limited, and will be reviewed and updated annually.
