Evolution of quality — how replicas have improved over the years

A few years back, I bought a replica that looked decent from afar but felt way off up close — rough finishing, cheap clasp, and the lume was basically nonexistent. Fast-forward to now, I checked out some newer pieces, and they seem miles ahead. Even macro photos look great. I’m curious — do you guys feel the same way? Have reps really gotten that much better, or is it just better marketing these days?

Oh, absolutely. The difference between what we had 5–6 years ago and now is night and day. The machining, the bezels, even the engravings — they’ve stepped up big time. I remember checking some comparisons on Official vs factory and was surprised how close the top factories have gotten. Some of the newer movements even match the sweep and feel of originals. It’s wild how far things have come.
