solar panel input on 5kw inverter strings
hi there. I got 9 panels in series 330watt 47vdc and according to spec around 8.5amp on string 1.
can I fit 6 x 550watt panels on my 2nd string and will that add up to more watts or will the inverter be capped on the lower watt string of the 330 watt panels. my 330watt panels was from a previous system

You are allow to use 2 strings of panels of different capacities. The key value that cannot be exceed is the combine Voc of the panels in each string exceeding 500V/string.
The potentential power if all the panels is 9*330= 2970W plus 6*550=3300W giving a possible total of 6270W. The maximum DC PV input specification for a 5kW inverter is 6500W, therefore no issue with the proposed panels - no capping.
