Deye 8K MPPT limited to 20A
Similar to the post for the 5KW unit that was limited to 9.9A

The 8K unit is limited to 20A instead of the official specifications of 22A.
The general response has been that this is for safety reasons however everyone using modern panels with current over 10A are being limited by this safety feature.

You will stuggle to find a panel rated under 10A ... I couldn't find one. Thats all high efficiency panels greater than 330W.
This is an issue as soon as you have two strings connected to one of the MPPT controllers.
Theoritically limiting the inverter to be used only with older panels 330W or with a max of 14 panels. 7 connected to MPPT 1 and 7 to MPPT 2 with max power of 7630 instead of 10700.
As soon as you use two strings on one MPPT you loose at least 10%.
My case is worse since I have 2 strings of 5 x JA 545 panels rated at 13A connected to MPPT1. I cannot move to MPPT2 since it has panels on a different facing roof.
This would max out at 5450 under idea conditions if there was no limit. However with the limit in place this works out to (5 panels * 41.8 V * 10A) * 2 strings = 4180W or a 24% loss of capicity.
The 5kW unit was updated to support 13A via firmware which allows a wider range of panels.
Ideally we should see the update to support 2x13A=26A for the DEYE however its a requirement that DEYE honour their specifications. (22A will reduce my losses to 16%)
When can we expect an update?
