Can I switch on a Tapo Smart WiFi Socket for Water Heating?

I use a number of these Smart Sockets to control various things around the house. They are basically electronic timeswitches rated up to 3kW but they can alse be remotely controlled over an internet connection from an App provided by Tapo.

My objective here is to get the inverter switch on the 2.5kW immersion heater around midday for an hour to save on gas boiler consumption. The rules would be:

BETWEEN 1200 and 1300

IF surplus solar greater than 2.5kW

AND battery > 90% SoC

Then turn on switch

Any idea if this can be done? There seems to be a setting on the Monitoring Portal for adding a "Smart Switch" device.

Thanks Ian. That's very helpful as it is exactly how I thought it should work!

I have read you more detailed article as well and in my case the existing immersion heater is 2.5kW which is just about OK with 4.23kWp solar array and 5kWh battery if I can just put it on for an hour in the middle of the day to top up the hot water cylinder. I can probably handle the timer bit just using the Smart Socket so that it only draw the load off when there is the highest likelihood of there being sun!.
