5.2 kw Sunsynk batteries installed upside down

Hi, apologies if this topic has been covered.

I've just had an 8kw inverter and 2no. 5.12 kw batteries installed as photo.

The batteries are wall mounted and have been installed upside down, i.e with cable terminals, coms ports, dip switches on the bottom. The front covers

with the Sunsynk logo is removable and can be installed either way up.

Page 5 of the Powerlite Lithium Battery System SSLB1 Product Manual reads 'Prohibited (item 3) Do not place the set upside down or sideways'

I've contacted Sunsynk and they replied that they have checked this with their technical department and that installing the batteries in this way is not detrimental to the battery nor unsafe.

I did ask for a clearer explanation but this was not forthcoming.

Can anyone comment on this or share their experience in this regard?

Thanks, Darryl

Hi Darryl, I hope you are well.

The reason it was originally stated not to put the batteries upside down was just for security purposes on older models. It was believed that this could be detremental to the batteries due to the positioning of the cells and was advised against it. After quite a few customers called to ask about this, as their install left little room for "correct" positioning, we felt obligated to take a look at the newer battery models and re-assess them. After some deliberation and testing, it has become clear that the new model batteries no longer need this restriction in place and are safe to install upside down.

We hope this helps,

Kind rgards
