Radio Frequency Interference
Hi All. I need advice on reducing RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) from my Sunsynk installation. I have an 8Kw inverter with 6 solar panels. When the inverter is active I get Interference on the Short Wave radio bands. I have a radio station at my home. Any practical advice would be appreciated. Thanks. I am in South Africa.

I do not have a lot of experience with short wave radio, but as I said it has been reported as a common issue with these types of inverters. In Australia for inverters to be approved, all approved electrical devices in Australia are required to meet (C Tick) but it does not guarantee zero emissions.
WRT being able to use the batteries, it will depend on the battery you are using, ie. if it is a managed battery, which comms protocol is used/available. Most inverters will support the Pylontech protocol. Some inverters will also allow you to use unmanaged batteries (do not require comms connection). Also keep in mind that these high end inverters have limited battery brands that are support by the inverter warranty.
I cannot recommend a brand of inverter, however it seem a hybrid inverter that is reported by radio operators is the Fronius Gen24 inverter. While this inverter has good RFI characteristics a limitation of this inverter is that the backup power available is not the full capacity of the inverter.
If you use an inverter that uses a separate charge controller, it could be the charge controller nit the inverter thatis causing the RFI interference, so please do your homework.
