Question about load (non essential) used for house backup

Hello all, I have just had my 8.8KW sunsynk inverter installed with 15KWH of batteries along with it (no solar as of yet) and I wanted to use the 'load' port as a whole house battery backup rather than just for essential loads, at the moment my electrician has just hooked it up to the main consumer unit and connected the batteries etc but he is coming back soon.

Now, I know that in theory it is possible to draw more power from my 100amp grid supply than the inverter could supply, but there is almost no way more than about 7 - 8 KW could ever be drawn from the house unless we turned on all the ovens, kettles, tumble dryers at once which never happens

We get a lot of power cuts for short periods of time (1 - 2 hours) so I am hoping this can provide some respite

How I go about achieving this, do I ask him to connect the load port into the consumer unit - because that doesn't sound right but I don't know the internal workings of the inverter, or do I need to get a transfer switch (pref automatic) and if so, are there any recommendations (i'm in the uk) Should I get a breaker that will trip if more than say 8.5KW is requested by appliances in the house for any reason does the inverter have protection for such things? Many thanks

Thank you, the alarm for grid down sounds like a great idea - can you provide some more information on that?
