SunSynk to remove ALL DATA from app older than a month

I have just been told by the UK customer service team taht sunsynk plan to remove ALL DATA from the app older than a month to ALL CUSTOMERS WORLDWIDE as it is to expensive to store the data as the company has expanded so much that it would cost too much to store everyones data on the cloud. Customers who wish to keep a record of their own data will be required to download the data on a daily basis.

This is a very short sighted and poor decision from the company as an expanding company selling more and more units and therefore making more and more money they should keep investment in the data storage which to be fair is actually not very expensive at all.

This decision needs to be reversed, part of the decision to purchase into the sunsynk system is the fact the historic data is available to the end user.

Please comment in reply how you feel about this decision maybe if enough people reply that they are not happy maybe they will change their minds

"If i wanted to move my own infrastructure to AWS i would be talking about ~$40k/year where my actual yearly costs (including hardware) are half of that."

Then you are not using savings plans, tiered storage etc. We have saved a number of clients considerable amounts of money transitioning to the cloud because being on-prem and having to refresh infrastructure every 5 years was uneconomical.

What about when you have sweated your infrastructure for the 5 days and you have to replace everything? You are not looking at the bigger picture.I could pin lots of articles that counter that argument, and working with the cloud I know the actual costs, I moved from being an on-prem datacentre advocate to cloud based advocate. Also Citrix have a vested interests as they started off being on-prem based and would like to keep their business model on-prem for making them more profit, I know I held a CCE for a number of years. Anyway I've said my piece and I choose not to waste anymore effort justifying my case on something I know a fair bit about. Peace out.
