Software issues

I installed a Sunsynk 8K hybrid inverter last week and have been seeing strange problems with the software.


Specifically, under 'System' the 'Use Timer' tick box will not stay un-set, I can unset (press ok to go back to next menu level), but if I exit settings and then go back in again 'Use Timer' is set again. This behaviour can be observed from the inverter itself, the web platform and the phone application.


Secondly (possibly related to first issue), in order to get the the inverter to supply loads from the battery I'm having to select 'Grid Peak Shaving' in the Grid settings. Note that System is set to 'Zero Export', 'Priority Load', 'Solar Export'.


Software version is M 3.8.8.1/S 0.0.0.0/C E.4.1.B

I have tried resetting to factory defaults, no change.


I've requested a software update but nothing appears to have come through, and have sent an email to support but have had no response. I will try calling support directly next week, but any help in the meantime would be appreciated.

Ah, thanks for that, It explains the first response I got from technical support when I raised this issue 👍

I'd set it to constant price when I setup the plant and completely forgot about it, so it shouldn't be the cause.


However it hadn't occurred to me that there would be an interaction between the plant setup and the ability to set some settings on the inverter, but is somewhat obvious in retrospect.


Also nice to know that if I choose to switch to an agile tariff (like Octopus offer here in the UK) then using it properly won't require me to write my own automation.


It's a shame this stuff isn't documented in the manual!
