8.8kw SP inverter connected to existing off-grid system.
Hi.
Just purchased an ECCO 8.8kw, 10 panels and 30kwh battery bank.
Will I need to remove the existing supply feed from my consumer unit and wire it straight into the gen port for AC coupling? Or, can I leave it in the consumer unit, and run the feed from there?
My son is an electrician and he claims that it's perfectly ok to have the existing power come in and back out of the consumer unit, only to be sent back in again from the load port?
I don't doubt it entirely but as a non electrician It seems risky somehow?
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

The problem is that the original panels are on a roof 50m from the house.
If I knew enough about solar I would be more confident in what I have just purchased.
Another option is that I leave the other feed in the property and only switch it on manually in case of a calamity?
I'm quite worried that 10 x 440 panels won't keep the battery topped up enough to last in the winter and I am all spent out at the moment so can't afford any new panels till summer
