MPPT balancing

So on the bigger inverters were you have 2 inputs for MPPT1 I always thought that needed to be same on both strings so 7/7 or 8/8 and so on. Then on MPPT2 you could have a different amount within the parameters obviously.

Today our office asked if on MPPT 1 we could have a 7/8 as we were struggling to make it look right on the roof, Sunsynk tech asked the VOC of the panels then come back and said this was ok. This was news to me, anyone else can shed some light on this or agree/disagree?

Thanks

Un-bablanced is exactly what I have! 2 sets of 6 panels in series - One on a South Roof and the other on a West roof. Feeding separate MPPTs. Obvs due to light at different times of Day the Power into each MPPT is vastly different. Same [probably worse] as having 1 less panel.......

No issues that I can see. I have not calculated what the loss effect will be as the installation 'real estate' only allowed for this set-up.
