Inaccurate UPS Kw readings post Inverter FW Updates
For a long time now, I have been troubleshooting with SS on an unexpected behaviour of the inverter since a firmware update, which has started happening since an upgrade to COMM:e424 - MCU:2374 previously from COMM:e424 - MCU-2366. What has now started happening is under the System Flow diagram it is always showing a constant draw for UPS (sometimes a couple hundred Kw even when essentially PV, AV off as you will see from pics below & NOTE THAT NOTHING IS CONNECTED ON MY LOAD PORT).
- I am now currently on COMM:E426 - MCU:2375-1515
- I have been on the following Firmware versions upgraded by SS to try and fix this and still the SAME behaviour continues: COMM:E426 - MCU:2381-1515, COMM:E426 - MCU:2374-1515, COMM:e424 - MCU:2374, COMM:e41c-MCU:2366
After some SS testing/investigating from SS and applying a couple of different versions of Firmware to the inverter (as you can see above), the massive spikes under UPS have stopped and it has settled in the continued range of 40-60w. I have asked SS why the UPS is still showing a value when I have nothing on the LOAD port. SS are just saying that “45 watts is the normal inverters consumption”. I get that but expected that draw was covered/captured under backend battery flow (so has expected behaviour changed then?)…
I would welcome input from others on this forum: are people/users seeing the same thing on their system flow page of a constant draw (even when NOTHING is on the LOAD port of the inverter)? Does your UPS flow constantly show a draw or only when you have something on LOAD port? Is the UPS piece intended just for inverter draw now since the upgrade? I thought that was just for LOAD port?
I have already had notes from a number of people saying that they have seen similar behaviour from their inverters since an upgrade... My SS support contact has been good to date trying to get to the bottom of this, but if SS senior people are watching this really would appreciate a definitive help, clarity on this.. This is not a one-off person experience, and really need to provide clear direction.
Appreciate the group input

To Follow up from my last post, my inverter had it's firmware updated on 01/02/2023 from:
Version M 2.3.7.4 / S 1.5.1.5 / C E.4.2.4
To:
Version M 2.3.8.2 / S 1.5.1.5 / C E.4.2.6
The update was done following the advisory note on SunSynk's web site about the 3.6kW-SGO1LP Ecco Hybrid Inverter: https://www.sunsynk.org/3-6kw-hybrid-inverter
I can confirm that the latest firmware does seem to solve the inaccurate figures being reported on the inverters summary display. Specifically the UPS kWh reading is now showing the correct load readings for this output,. Also the inverter output and house usage figures now tally.
I did notice that the UPS readings are a little unstable when there is no load on this output, they jumped around a bit, however under loads > 5Watts it settled down.
Interestingly I also think the quiescent power draw for the inverter itself may have gone down. I monitor the power going into the inverter installation and since the update this seems to have dropped a little. Only a few Watts, but enough for me to notice.
