Use battery instead of importing power
Hi,
I have a sunsynk 5.5kw inverter and 10.2kw of batteries - the batteries have charged to 100% with the sun but seem to never discharge. When the sun is not shining I import power. At the moment I have not recieved my DNO certificate so until that comes and I can change tarrif there is no point exporting (I charge my car and heat water with any eneregy exported) this is connected downstream of the inverter CT and is programmed to use only excess solar.
I want to use the battery to power my home overnight and minimise any import of power.
Kind regards
Mark

Like others have said, you need to enable the timer. By default, it seems the inverter works in UPS mode, it supplies PV to the load, and exports excess, and then if the grid fails it switches over to battery.
Once you enable the timer, it goes into a hybrid mode, where it'll charge the batteries + supply load from the PV by day, and then discharge the batteries at night down to your set threshold in the timer settings. Once SOC reaches the set threshold, it'll switch over to the grid until you have PV available again the next morning.
I find the grid and gen charge checkboxes confusing still. But on my setup, these are all set to OFF, which means the SOC remains at the set threshold, and the batteries will ONLY begin charging when the PV picks up again. I never charge batteries from the grid.
