Solar Assistant in the UK - advice, experiences (INSTALLED!)
I am in the UK, and I am considering going the Solar Assistant + Raspberry Pi route for my 8kW Sunsynk inverter. Does anybody here have any UK experience with buying hardware from Solar Assistant in Pretoria? I would assume that taxes and import duties would be attracted. How complicated was it do purchase from them?
Obviously it would be simpler, in a way, to provide my own Raspberry Pi and just get the software from Solar Assistant but I am inclined to at least explore the possibility of supporting these guys with a hardware purchase.
TL;DR:
I bought a pre-configured Pi direct from Solar Assistant in Pretoria and it's great. I would thoroughly recommend it. It is a HUGE improvement over using the Sunsynk interface. The cost, even of the pre-configured one (with shipping) pales into insignificance when you look at the overall cost of a solarPV system. I have sent a couple of tech support questions, to which I received prompt answers. No hesitation whatsoever to recommend it. I don't have anything to gain from recommending Solar Assistant - I'm just a happy customer.
@Steve (UK:MK) did you pay taxes and import duties upon delivery?
