Can the 8kw hybrid inverters be configured in a way that a DNO application is not required?

From what I understand you don't need DNO permission if you are off grid. To be off grid your PV load can not power anything that is also powered by the grid.

My intention is to size and PV and batteries so the only time I am using the grid is to charge batteries & have zero export.

I thought maybe the best way would be to connect the grid to the inverter as if it was a generator? Any gotcha's that would cause a problem with this approach or attempting to avoid DNO requirements?
