Choosing a Generator (AVR or Inverter)
I'm in the UK. I had a Sunsynk 5k hybrid inverter and 10kwh Sunsynk battery bank installed a couple of months ago. I also have a legacy 4kwh PV system still connected to a Power One Aurora inverter. Everything is working great. I'm now looking at adding a generator. I have seen the videos, etc on options for setting up the generator for the Sunsynk inverter. However, as far as I can see the big unanswered question is whether it would be safe to use an AVR generator such as the Warrior LDG6500 (5kwh) diesel. I believe the Warrior has a THD (frequency variation) of less than 5%. Or play safe with inverter generator such as Champion 73001i (3kwh). ( Not comparable in power on cost grounds). I'm attracted to the Warrior because it has ATS functionality as well as being more powerful. The extra power would mean I could charge my batteries more quickly in a power cut and minimise run time and associated noise.
Any thoughts or personal experience would be much appreciated.
Mike
