Connecting Generator to Grid Input via ATS. 50Kw 3 Phase

Hi all

Looking for some help setting up this customer.

IT will be an installation with 2 x 50Kw hybrids in parallel, each one with a 60KW battery system.

These units will be put in the power room at the customer, however, the input Grid supply and generator are 200m away at the corner of the property. There is already an ATS unit that kicks in the generator once the grid fails. The customer doesn't want to run another cable from the generator to the power room as it will require breaking concrete floors and become a costly exercise. Fortunately, when original power cable from ATS to the power room, he had the foresight to run a multicore signal cable as well.

My question is this. Would like to put the generator in manual start mode so then sense the grid and then have the inverter close the contact for generator start. How would you do this? Putting a smart meter on the grid side so if this goes offline, inverter knows the grid is down? Have used Eastron smart meters before and they have a separate input for powering them us vs. the sensing ports. We can always get inverter power to this so it stays permanently powered. Just not sure if this meter will then communicate grid failure if the sense lines go down?

Or am I doing all this wrong.

There will of course be CT's connected to the line after the ATS with "Zero export to CT" set so we don't damage generator.

Any help will be appreciated.

Chris

Do you want the inverters to behave just as a UPS?
