Integrating Wind and PV
How to integrate 240v AC from a wind turbine with PV using Sunsynk inverter(s)
Is it possible?
I'm writing from a small island on Orkney where like many people in these times I would prefer my energy supply was resilient as practicable.
At the moment we are grid connected with a 10Kw wind turbine which has Sunny Boy inverters at the turbine site (200m distant), supplying us with 240v AC to the house. Excess is managed by an Immersun and anything further is exported to grid.
Approximately 70 metres down the road we have 8.5kw of PV on a shed roof with a lead acid battery bank and a cheap 5kw inverter (which i would happily replace) supplying outbuildings next to the house containing water pumps, freezers and workshop.
I also have another 8.5kw of PV as yet uninstalled. I have an outbuilding next to the house that would be suitable to install these.
I am happy to remain on or off grid although we do get power cuts fairly frequently during big windstorms in winter.
