System and Installer recommendations

Hi all, I am brand new to solar

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I would like to install a solar system in my 3 Bedroom house in a Hybrid manner (utilizing the maximum sun, but also having the grid as a back up). I've been doing a bit of research and the Sunsynk sounds like a good price/quality/ features combination. Does anyone have any recommendations in terms of the system specifications and suppliers/ Installers for me to use. My initial thoughts are to go for:

Inverter - Either 2 x 5kW or 1 x 8.8 kW, I'm leaning towards 2 x 5kW. Batteries - probably 10kWh, but looking for good quality/price.

Panels - I've been told that I should start with 12 panels, but again appreciate advice on price/quality/capacity.

Thanks in advance.

John

Hi John I am nota expert but is running my solar installation from November here in George area. I have a Sunsync 5.5kw with a 5.1kw hubble battery with 10 540w canadian pannels. Have a 3 bedroom house with only me and wife. My aim is to run my house in day time on panels and charge the battery and at nighttime run on battery but not going under 40%. Here is my experience: 1. Best setup for price especially if you shop around. 2. 5.5kw inverter is just good enough (2people 1 geyser and gas burner stove). I would recommend 8.8 if you have more people or more equipment. 2x inverters will over complicate you setup 3. 2 x 5kw batteries will be money well spend (mine 1 battery is just not good enough, i need eskom from around 2 am if i want to keep my battery above 40%) 4. 12 north facing panels will do the job. Try getting also 540w canadian best price performance. Installers i can not help (as i did most of the installation myself) but get a certified sunsynk installer that can also give you a COC for the installation. A trick to get your electricity requirement better is to monitor your prepaid meter (if you have one) that will give you a good indication if above will do the job for you. Your average consumption per day and night. Enjoy the solar journey it is a wonderful experience to generate all own electricity from the sun.
