Does SunSynk inverter work when grid is down?

I have a question about the operation of the SunSynk hybrid inverter when the grid is down and battery is empty.

.

Example: the grid goes down at night, so the house is powered from the battery. Before morning, the battery is empty. Will the inverter start working when the sun shines, even though the grid is still down and the battery is empty?

It is not an "option". It is a feature available on SS hybrid inverters. The inverter has 3 ports, Grid, Load and Aux.

It comes down to how you want to use the inverter.

You indicated that the grid goes down. This means the Grid port will not be able to provide any power which means that if you want to provide power when the Grid is down, then all your loads would be connected to the Load port.

However some times some system owners have limited battery capacity and decide that some loads do not need to be powered when the Grid goes down, these are referred to as non-essential loads and are connected to the Grid port. The loads that need to be kept up are then connected to the Load port and are referred to as essential loads.

With respect to your question "Will the inverter start working when the sun shines, even though the grid is still down and the battery is empty?". The inverter will only produce as much power as the PV will allow and in most cases that will not be enough until there is enough sun. This is why the inverter will "shutdown" when the battery reaches a certian level and then only restart when the battery reach the "restart" value.
