Set Generator to only charge batteries

I have read all the documentation and many forums and still I need an answer :

I have a 5,5KW Sunsynk system and have connected a small generator to the AUX port. Whenever the AC is off and the generator kicks in, the generator gets overloaded as the system is pulling too many amps from the generator.

The Sunsynk manual states "The generator should have sufficient power to handle the load plus charging of batteries". That is all fine and well.

My question is :

How do I setup the Sunsynk to allow the generator to only charge the batteries ? The load must be supplied by the batteries as it usually does and the generator should then just charge the batteries. have played around with the settings for many hours but was unable to achieve this simple requirement.

Any ideas would be welcome ?

It is not possible to run the load off the batteries and charge the batteries at the same time

You can limit the draw from the generator by using Gen peak shaving power however.

I have a similar setup (small generator 2.5KW on the AUX port and 8KW inverter) and the way it works it is that when I need to charge the batteries, I ensure that the load on the inverter (for duration of the charge time) is less than what the generator is capable of (I can get away with 500W) and I employ the gen peak shaving power option to limit the draw from the generator to 2400W.

So the generator is powering the load 500W and the rest (1900W) charges the battery.
