How to connect four 5kWh Sunsynk batteries to an 8kW Sunsynk inverter?

The installer of my 8kWh hybrid Sunsynk inverter connected four 5kWh Sunsynk batteries in parallel using apparently standard cables. When 8kW of power go into or out of these batteries the pair of cables between the inverter and the battery get very hot - 73degC on the outside of the insulation.

Which cables should be used for this? Assuming 50V, there are at least 160 Amps flowing through these cables.

Hi Stuart - (I've hurt my shoulder so can't type easy - only one finger!!!)

In short:

1) Even 0.5C is high. Lower is better for less heat and greater battery and inverter life

2) Performance ok to >45degC but battery life reduces above 35degC. yes your temps is ok - I will be keeping an eye on temp in the summer!

3) Yes, that is how the power [heat] reduces in the stack but the bottom battery could produce more power so advice I have been given is to spec all the cables the same.

SEE VIDEO ON MY NEW POST @ 9min44sec

4) Your cable is not [no where near!] rated at 200A....! see graphs 4awg more like 80 - 100A???

5) OK, to increase cable size but [china tell me that] the lower power the better for life! I charge and use at the lowest I can. If it is sunny then you have loads of time in the day to get power into battery??

6) yes i have assumed cell temp

best regards

matt
