Battery dropped to 13% even though System Timer says 15% min

6KW array

3.6 Ecco Hybrid SunSynk innverter (low power mode activated)

5.1kwh sunsynk battery

It's been sunny for a couple of months here in the UK. I can't think of the last day my bettery didn't get to 100% at some point in the day. Maybe 2 months.

Today is was dull and overcase all day. The battery only got up to about 25% full at most. Now the sun has totally gone and I noticed the battery is sat at 13%. (Ifnore the export figure, that's from yesterday and doesn't seem to reset unless you export some today)

I have all timers in System mode set to 15% min. No grid charge.

Low Battery warning is set to 16% (for low power mode)

Battery shutdown is 10%

Haven't touched any settings in months because it's all been running super stable.

I had a lengthy call with SS today on the subject of battery depletion as referenced in this post.

Depletion below the low overnight Soc target is to be expected. Even when using LPM - albeit slower. There was some confusion at SS - but they have confirmed the above from design & manufacturing teams in China.

Using LPM with grid charge enabled will NOT charge the battery while the isolator is hibernating ( I have tested this), but it will start to charge as soon as the Pv wakes up the isolator.

Finally SS confirmed there is a backstop charging scenario - regardless of charge being ticked, if Soc drops to 10%, then BMS will initiate pulse charging to protect the battery further. I've seen reports of this elsewhere but haven't dared try it out!

Hope this helps the discussion - any observations gratefully received.
