Octopus Cosy would be good without a heat pump too

In my opinion, users without a heat pump should lobby Octopus to let them go on the Cosy tariff. It would be good for Octopus to shift as many people as possible off the evening peak time. It is brilliant to have a 3 hour cheap rate period in the afternoon when you can top up the batteries if there has not been enough solar.

I do have gas heating (with electronic TRVs on each radiator and boiler modulating via opentherm). But due to high electricity consumption (which ends up being turned into heat eventually) most of my "heating" ends up being electric (even in december i used more electricity than gas).

I am working on reducing my electricity consumption as well (recently i've upgraded my switch from old cisco 3750X (1G with PoE) + dell 8024F (10G) that were consuming 300-400W between them with a new mikrotik that consumes less than 40W+PoE loads and still provides 12 10G ports (but that's what 12 years of hardware development does (both switches came out in 2010 and were around 15k for the cisco and 10k for the dell, while new mikrotik came out in 2022 and costs less than 1k so savings in electricity consumption are going to pay for it pretty quickly))).
