Pre configuration and updates before 1st switch on
Hi a couple of quick confirmation questions.
I have 2 new 5kw ecco inverters which will be running in parrallel when fitted as intended. I thought it would be a good idea to run up the inverters before finally wiring the inverters and the final switch on - so I can update the firmware, set the modbus etc and familiarise myself with the menu. Basically I want to get everything set before the main commisioning sequence.
1) Can I wire a 13a fused fly lead and connect it up to the inverter so i can switch it on - I think I saw a video where Keith mentioned this could be safely done...(with no load connected)
2) I would like to update the firmware - I assume the data logger needs registering and setting. I would like to use an RS232 to usb adaptor to configure each data logger on my laptop. Is this just a straight forward usb to RS232 or are there special pin outs.......can some one post a link ...... for purchasing.
3) This is next question - will complicate things....my batteries are on order and will get them at the end of April. But my solar array is up and I would like to get the panels commission and the inverters running.........I was thinking of wiring everything up ready for parralleling - but run the system as two separate invertes by not plugging in the comms cable and having no battery. I would then run 2 CT coils and commission each inverter separately??? Is this ok.....

1) You can, but not sure why given that you're suggesting (3)
2) Why not just setup the data loggers and use the internet based upgrade? Note that as long as both inverters where supplied with the same firmware you probably don't need to upgrade in order to commission.
3) You can parallel onto grid but only one inverter can have a CT (be aware this may break local DNO regs), basically one invert will just at as a dumb grid tied inverter. However, why not just commission as parallel, it's like one coms cable and a few firmware settings!
