ECCO 8.8kW MPPT/String specifications

Hi all

I’m a relative newbie to the solar PV world and am looking at various inverters that could form part of the system I’m trying to spec out.

I’m looking at installing 24 panels on the flat and flat(ish – 5°) roofs of a residential property in a UK conservation zone. I’m considering either of the following options or something else if there is another alternative:

  • 8 panels facing 20° south on a flat roof+ 8 panels facing 20° east on a 5° east facing roof+ 8 panels facing 20° west on a 5° west facing roof

  • 12 panels facing 20° E/W in a /\/\/\ pattern (i.e. 6 facing east and 6 facing west)+ 6 panels facing 20° east on a 5° east facing roof+ 6 panels facing 20° west on a 5° west facing roof

The panels I’m looking at due to their relatively small width for landscape mounting are 390W Q Peak Duo ML G9 which have the following spec:

  • Voc = 45.06

  • Vmpp = 38.01

  • Impp = 10.26

  • Isc = 10.71

I’m finding it confusing trying to work this all out with regards to the 8.8kW ECCO due to the difference in specification for MPPTs and number of strings per MPPT given in different places in the Sunsynk documentation.

The data sheet and the technical specs in the user manual for the SG05LP1-EU inverter range give the number of MPPTs and strings per MPPT as 2/1 + 1 for ALL inverters across the range

However the same manual for the inverter says that the 7.6kW and 8.8kW have 2/2 + 2?

ree

So which is it 1 + 1 or 2 + 2?

What does 2 + 2 mean anyway?

and how would this affect my installation?

Any help much appreciated…

It's hard to imagine what you are saying without pictures but:

Unless you use optomisers you can't do either plan as you only have 2 MPPTs and combining different orientations will drag down the panels into sun whne the other panels are out of sun....

Suggets you research Optomisers and if you can have 8 panels on one optomiser??? If so I would look at Option 1 and putting the 8 south on 1 MPPT and the other 16 [optomised per roof NOT per panel] on the other MPPT

BUT BUT BUT

you have missed what many threads have saif here - you cannot exceed the max Voc of the MPPT. And 16 panels [maybe even 8!] will do that.... Check the Voc for the panels as well as the current
