Sunsynk and Octopus

From what i understand, Sunsyk has worked with the Octopus energy supplier to make their inverters compatible with Octopus and to integrate with certain Octopus rates.

However, it seems that you must have specific battery types to actually access those rates/scheduling. What i cant get my head around, is that if Octopus can tell the inverter when to charge and discharge and its the inverters function to tell the battery when to charge or discharge, what does it matter what type of battery it is?

i currently have a Seplos 280L 14.3kw and about to buy another one, i have a 4kw PV system with separate inverter installed under FiT and want to add additional solar (not grid tied) to help boost the batteries, so im sure my installation (and many hundreds like it) could help support the grid and of course my bank balance !

so, my comment/question is to Sunsynk .... Has any discussion taken place re different batteries being 'approved' (i have entered the Seplos battery into the octopus 'vote for your battery' database !)

i cant see where to vote for the inverter, it just allows you to vote for the battery? which was the point i made, its about communicating with the inverter NOT the battery!

you also need to be on an octopus export tariff - i am with British gas on a Feed In Tariff from the second tranche of PV systems and get paid for what i produce (around 31p) NOT what i feed back to the grid. so for me to go onto a tariff that only pays for waht you export would be counter productive
