Generator recommendation

Good morning

I have a 5KW Sunsynk inverter single phase hybrid, running 4kw solar panels and 2 dryness batteries.

new to all this so please bear with me...

I want to get a generator to connect to the inverter when we have a grid down situation - happens often enough in UK.

The generator would be used to top up batteries and supply the house with some power, I was thinking the Kooenner Soehnen brand running off LPG and petrol inverter generator, unless anyone else could suggest a better brand/setup. I have the choice of 2KW or 3KW, i know it wont run the heating or hot water cylinder as i need over 3kw to do so, just to keep the house ticking over.

The switch would be a manual switch over, 2 switches one with GRID the other side with solar - this side would be linked to another switch which would be solar or generator.

There is no registered installer in Northern Ireland, my installer is useless here. I wanted a system that would run off grid if and when the power goes down, this system is not setup this way and I know it can be done.

Advice please :)

This is so frustrating all the info says Sunsynk is fine with gennys but getting it to work is another matter. My installer does not do gennys and neither do the approved installers in the area, west midlands by the way. I have been in touch with customer services who escalated my problem to tech services and a person called Gerrie responded. I did what I was told but did not see any change on the graphic display(even after being advised it takes 60 secs for inverter to react) where there is a reference to "Gen". I went back to Gerrie but now there is no communications either way.

I have an Excel gen/inverter 3kw dual fuel. I have it in the shed outside. I have wired it into the room where the Sunsynk inverter is and have a break switch in there. So my plan is the simplest possible. Monitor the SOC daily in winter time and if the batteries need charging start the gen up, charge the batteries and when full turn the gen off. Why this is so difficult to do when all the youtube videos are showing really complicated stuff beggars belief. I live alone I use little power so assuming the kettle or oven or dishwasher or washing machine is not on(and they won't be when charging) I use less than 400w. I am tearing my hair out (whats left of it) because the idea is, once this concept is proved of course, is to change my smart meter to "export only" and run off solar/gen charged batteries and save the standing charge which in the UK will only go up. Maybe I bought the wrong inverter but I also have Sunsynk batteries because I thought, perhaps mistakenly, the kit was first class. So far the assembly has worked brilliantly achieving 4kw from solar with 15 panels on good days and between 2 and 3kw on normal days thats per hour by the way. This niggle is really annoying there is a video of Kieth setting up a gen on site which I thought at last! but no it was right by the gen hammering away and the video could not be understood. HELP HELP!!!
