Powering the house from batteries during a power cut
I have an 8kW hybrid inverter and 3 5kW batteries and I would like to make use of the battery power during a power cut. I know that power is available on the load port but that is not really practical without changing a lot of wiring and I imagine this would be true for a lot of people who are just embarking on the solar power road. As I understand it the inverter will stop operating normally when grid power goes off so I am wondering if a low power generator connected to the system would allow it to carry on working and use the battery power. Obviously you would have to stop it exporting anything during the power cut. I have a mains changeover switch and a separate earth which was used previously with a large generator. My question is if I connected a low power generator and switched over would the inverter then supply battery power?

That is such an interesting topic to explore! Powering a house from batteries during a power cut is becoming more common, especially with all the new backup systems available. While researching this for my own work, I found it surprisingly detailed and a bit technical and I actually had to pay for assignment help to understand some of the concepts clearly. Your discussion really adds value for anyone trying to learn how these systems work and why they matter.
