How can one set the maximum battery charge state to less that 100% SOC?
Hello,
I have 20kWh of battery (4 x 5kWh) in the UK. Between around the spring and the autumn equinox the batteries spend a lot of time sitting at 100% SOC. With the Octopus Flux tariff one earns more from charging the batteries between 2 and 5am (21p per kWh) and exporting any production during the day (24p per kWh). However already last summer the batteries were sitting at 100% SOC from early to mid morning to sunset but with optimising flux financial return, I can see that the batteries will be at 100% SOC for much of the day and night.
I would like to preserve my batteries!
I can set the maximum charge state of the batteries for grid charge using the timer, to 80% or whatever. However, is there any way we can set the maximum SOC that the panels charge the battery to, say 80%?
Thank you! Stuart

Thanks nboggin,
I hadn't thought of just slowing the charge - will look at that.
Re solar prediction - yes, done that manually according to the weather forecast but need it automatic.
I await the Solar Assistant with automation rules in 2-3 months with interest to see if that will help - by switching modes based on SOC perhaps.
