Battery life with volatile charge and discharge
Hi. I run quite a heavy load as I have a heat source pump and I try to trickle charge my electric car using solar. On an average UK May day, the solar energy is very volatile which means my battery is constantly balancing the load and the solar. It means my battery is constantly in a state of charge and discharge. I assume the performance of 6,000 charge lifecycles is based on one linear charge and discharge. Does anyone know how an erratic charge and discharge impacts the life of the battery?
Thanks

It will have an impact but not to a degree you need to worry about imho.
If you look at this article here https://www.powertechsystems.eu/home/tech-corner/lithium-iron-phosphate-lifepo4/ you'll see that the life of the battery increases exponentially as the DoD decreases. So if variable cloud cover is causing a small amount of cycling, say in the 5-10% range you're looking 100,000s if not millions of cycles being available.
