Inverter Efficiency
I have a very simple question. I read that the inverter efficiency should be around 97%. But with my newly installed (small) 2.4 kwp solar installation using a SUN-3.6K-SG04LP1EU hybrid inverter combined with a SUN-BATT-5.12 battery the efficiency loss input to output of the inverter is about 20%. (The battery is only set up to work with the inverter and does not import from the grid.)
This was first noticed by comparing the solar input readings of the inverter to the certified generation meter, the latter showing about 20% less cumulatively since May. In addition the inverter inputs and outputs readings do not balance and infer a 20% loss. Also the inverter rear heat sink gets too hot to touch, indicating that energy is being lost..
Can anyone explain to me what's going on? Have I got a faulty inverter?
Thanks

No, that 97% efficiency is a lie (or more likely a number they got in a lab in perfect conditions). In reality it is closer to 85% during normal use.
