Max PV input on 8kw inverter.

Hi guys.

Im new here and this is my first post.

Im looking for some info as to the highest wattage PV array that can be used on the 8kw inverter.

In the documentation it says 10400w. Is that a hard limit or just a maximum that the inverter/mppt's can effectively use.

I want to oversize the array as much as possible for overcast days while still remaining within the Voc limit.

Example of this would be

4 strings.

6x 455w (45voc x 6) mppt 1 input 1

6x 455w (45voc x 6) mppt 1 input 2

5x 455w (45voc x 6) mppt 2 input 1

5x 455w (45voc x 6) mppt 2 input 2

This all gives a total pv input of 10010w

While still staying on the very low end of the Voc limits.

So my question is can i add even more panels in series to increase the Voc to work more effectively therefore exceeding the 10400w limit?

Will the inverter be able to clip the extra power ?

Might sound like a dumb question because the inverter only pulls what it needs in any given moment but might there be a scenario where something goes horrible wrong ?

Thanks for any advice you guys can provide.

as long as you are under the maximum voltage of the inverter you are fine.
