Adding additional 5.12 CATL Sunsynk battery.
I have 8kW inverter and 5 x Sunsynk 5.12kW batteries. Working fine, but I'm adding a sixth battery, currently unsuccessfully.
I have an identical 5.12 CATL battery.
Added extra battery charge cables and earthing - OK.
Added comms cable, right way round.
Updated dip switch on master
Set dip switch on 5th slave
Battery isolator in off mode
Switched on batteries - run light tries to come on, but immediate twinkle 3 on all batteries
Isolated new battery and reset master dip switch - all OK with 4 slaves.
Q - Does the reset need to be pressed on master/slaves when adding to existing?
Q - Could this be caused by the new battery having less charge than the existing?

DavidSB. To answer your Q you don’t need to reset to add batteries and when adding batteries they do not behave as your second Q.
You should make the new battery your master as it will have the newest firmware. After adding new battery do system shutdown and restart. That should do it.
