Understanding the System Mode screen

I am experiencing difficulty in understanding the "System Mode" screen. Page 33 of the manual gives a confusing example, and I am not sure if this is errata or not:
The way I understand the first four columns on this screen is that it is a set of instructions and conditions to either use or charge the batteries. I read the first entry as an instruction to charge the battery from the grid at 08H00 every day,op to 100% SoC and to use up to 4kW of grid power to do it. The second entry is an instruction to use up to 5kW of the battery at 11H00, for essential loads, until 50% SoC is reached. This is incongruent with the wording in the example. Or is there something that I am not understanding correctly?

I am also having difficulty with this. My installer has the battery set up and system mode as below to limit the SOC to 50%, but it still drops below this, please advise:
Battery set up
Shutdown 10%
Low battery 10%
Restart 50%
System Mode
Time Power SOC/V Grid
09h00 1000 100% Not ticked
15h00 5000 50% Ticked
Use timer - ticked Priority load - ticked
