Small generator to charge batteries

Good day,

There are a few posts regarding this topic, but I have a little different requirement:

·        I have an 8kW inverter.

·        20kWh battery

·        2.4kVA double conversion generator, connected to AUX input. (Output frequency verry stable)

·        Grid connection

If the grid is off for long durations let’s say 2 weeks. I want to use the generator to charge the batteries at a constant rate of 1.6kW. No surges from the load should be pulled from the generator at all. All surges or additional load above 1.6kW must be drawn from the batteries during these short events.

This will allow the small generator to run stable until there is no more fuel.

I have experimented with this and thus far I could only get the following to work:

·        The full load switches over to the generator. This works well when the inverter load is below 500W, but I was not able to charge the batteries during this time.

·        Generator peak shaving: I set the AUX Load Gen Input to 500W (peak shaving power) and the batteries will supply the remainder of power to the load. Load sharing worked perfectly. I was not able to charge the batteries during this time. I did up the Gen Input to 1.5kW while the load was 1.1kW and still no battery charging.

In both scenarios, charging the batteries was not possible. I did setup the gen charging in the battery setup menu to allow charging. I also enabled GEN charging in the system mode and my SOC is 100%.

Could you help if I missed a setting or need a firmware upgrade to resolve this?
